A One-of-a-Kind Journey into the Gita
The Bharat Yoga Vidya Kendra (BYK) presents a unique Bhagavad Gita Study Circle, designed not just to read the Gita, but to experience it. Unlike standard study groups that focus solely on philosophy, this course places equal emphasis on the traditional art of Chanting (Ucharana) and the practical application of Wisdom (Jnana).

We dive deep into one chapter every 3 months. This paced approach gives us sufficient time to:

Learn to Chant:
Master the correct pronunciation and meter of selected important verses.

Understand the Meaning:
Explore commentaries to grasp the subtle truths of the verses.

Apply to Life:
Discuss how Krishna’s teachings can be incorporated into your everyday life to find balance and peace.

Focus: Chapter 6 – Dhyana Yoga  (Yoga through Meditation and Contemplation)

In this quarter, we explore Dhyana Yoga, the path of meditation and inner mastery. In Chapter 6 of the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna guides Arjuna on how to discipline the mind, cultivate inner balance, and prepare oneself for deep meditation that leads to spiritual clarity and Self-knowledge.

What you will learn:
You will learn to chant and understand key verses from Chapter 6 that explain the practice of meditation, the discipline required to purify and steady the mind, and the vision of Self-knowledge that leads to oneness with the divine.

उद्धरेदात्मनात्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत् ।
आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मन: ॥

Class Structure & Schedule

Classes are designed to be interactive and meditative, ensuring you leave every session with a clear mind and a full heart.

  • Day: Every Saturday
  • Time: 90 Minutes (6:00 AM – 7:30 AM IST)
  • Format:
    • First 45 Mins:
      Chanting Practice. Learn the nuances of Sanskrit pronunciation, meter, and intonation.
    • Next 45 Mins:
      Wisdom & Reflection. Detailed study of commentaries and open discussions on applying these truths to modern daily life.

Eligibility

No prior knowledge is required—only an openness to listen, reflect, and gradually integrate the Gita’s teachings into everyday life

Yoga Instructor & Chanting Expert

The sessions are led by Nithyashree, a dedicated and trained Yoga teacher with a deep-rooted passion for the Vedic arts.

  • Expertise: She is formally trained in Bhagavad Gita Chanting from the prestigious Chinmaya Mission, India.
  • Experience: Chanting has been a part of her daily sadhana since she was a teenager.
  • Teaching Style: Nithyashree brings a unique blend of musical precision and devotional understanding, making the ancient verses accessible and enjoyable for students of all levels.
