Bhagavad Gita Study Circle

Chant with Precision. Understand with Clarity. Live with Purpose.

A One-of-a-Kind Journey into the Gita
The Bharat Yoga Vidya Kendra (BYK) presents a unique Bhagavad Gita Study Circle, designed not just to read the Gita, but to experience it. Unlike standard study groups that focus solely on philosophy, this course places equal emphasis on the traditional art of Chanting (Ucharana) and the practical application of Wisdom (Jnana).

We dive deep into one chapter every 3 months. This paced approach gives us sufficient time to:

Learn to Chant:
Master the correct pronunciation and meter of selected important verses.

Understand the Meaning:
Explore commentaries to grasp the subtle truths of the verses.

Apply to Life:
Discuss how Krishna’s teachings can be incorporated into your everyday life to find balance and peace.

“The aim of chanting is not to chant, but to bring about silence. One need not mistake the technique to be the goal. If the goal is felt, stop all chanting and subside into it. In quietness, enjoy to the best of your capacity.”

Upcoming Module: 3rd October to 26th December

Focus: Chapter 7: Jnana Vijnana Yoga

Chapter 7 of the Bhagavad Gita is known as Jnana Vijnana Yoga, the Yoga of Knowledge and Realized Wisdom. In this chapter, Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna the nature of supreme knowledge, the relationship between the material world and the Supreme Reality, and the path by which a seeker can truly understand the Divine.

The chapter marks an important shift in the Gita, moving from spiritual discipline and action toward a deeper understanding of God’s presence in all aspects of existence.

Meaning of Jnana and Vijnana

Jnana means spiritual knowledge gained through study, reflection, and understanding. Vijnana means realized wisdom—the direct experience of that truth in one’s own life. Krishna teaches that true wisdom is not limited to theory; it must become a living awareness. A person may intellectually know that the Divine exists, but through devotion, discipline, and inner purity, that knowledge becomes realization.
