Why this course matters

Yoga teacher training is not only about learning postures.
It is about learning how to live, practise and teach yoga as a complete way of life.

A Yoga Teacher Training Course at Bharat Yogavidya Kendra is an opportunity to enter deeply into the authentic teachings of yoga — not merely as physical exercise, but as a disciplined, holistic and transformative path.

Through structured study and guided practice, students explore yoga philosophy, asana, pranayama, meditation, anatomy, Ayurveda, mantra, teaching methodology and the traditional Nath lineage. Whether your aim is to teach professionally or to deepen your own sadhana, this course offers a strong foundation for a lifelong yogic journey.

Teaching yoga is not simply demonstrating postures. It asks for practice, study, responsibility, clarity, and a sincere commitment to the yogic path.

At BYK, the training is guided by the living Nath tradition of Sri M and supported by a complete curriculum that balances classical knowledge with practical teaching skills. You learn how to understand yoga from its roots, practise with discipline, teach with responsibility, and carry the spirit of yoga into daily life.

The course prepares you to plan, sequence and conduct yoga classes with confidence while also cultivating the inner steadiness expected of a sincere practitioner and teacher.

What this training gives you

The gift you’ll be trained to pass on

Every part of this course is designed to build both your personal practice and your capacity to teach with authenticity.

A strong foundation in yoga

Study the meaning, history and purpose of yoga through classical texts, yogic philosophy, the paths of yoga, and the traditional foundations of practice.

Traditional Hatha Yoga practice

Develop a disciplined practice of asana, sukshma and sthula vyayama, Surya Namaskara, pranayama, mudra, bandha, meditation and Yoga Nidra.

Lineage-based learning

Receive orientation into the Nath Sampradaya, Guru–Shishya parampara, Sri M’s living lineage, and selected teachings from traditional Nath texts.

Yogic anatomy and wellness

Understand the body, breath, mind, prana, nadis, chakras, koshas, Ayurveda basics, stress management and the yogic approach to health.

Teaching methodology

Learn demonstration, cueing, observation, correction, sequencing, class planning, professional ethics and the BYK 7-point asana teaching method.

Practicum and assessment

Build teaching confidence through peer teaching, supervised sessions, feedback labs, written examination, practical teaching and chanting assessment.

Why BYK is different

Most courses teach techniques. BYK trains you to practise, understand and teach.

Many programmes teach yoga as a set of techniques. BYK offers yoga as a living tradition, supported by disciplined practice, classical study and authentic guidance.

An authentic living lineage

BYK is guided by Sri M, a disciple of Maheshwarnath Babaji in the ancient Nath tradition. You are not learning a repackaged Western format — you are receiving an unbroken transmission, taught with the depth and integrity of a genuine parampara.

Real depth, not just activities

Classical philosophy, the physiology of practice, the subtle body, Nath-lineage wisdom, Hatha Yoga techniques, Ayurveda, mantra and teaching methodology — all studied with seriousness and applied through practice.

Hands-on from day one

You practise, teach, and receive personal feedback throughout — not just watch slides. A deliberately small cohort means real mentoring, a graded teaching assessment, and the confidence that you can actually lead a class when you walk out.
